Vertical Applications
In a typical vertical application, mobile devices face two challenges: Supporting a robust solution
in a small package and then integrating that solution with everything from mainframes to databases
to networks.
That’s why our abilities and experience integrating multiple platforms is especially useful
when working in the mobile world. For example, for a major fast-food restaurant, we wrote an application
for a mobile temperature recorder. Our software enabled the device to log temperature readings in the
network database where they were automatically formatted for use in managerial and regulatory reports.
We can also help you decide whether developing your own device or modifying an existing tool is the
most effective option for your needs.
If your business depends on delivering a solid product to a specific market, CPS is ready to help you
deliver.
We have years of experience building custom applications for proprietary and standard hardware,
and we pride ourselves in meeting even the most stringent requirements. Just as importantly, we have the
know-how to engineer a product that is maintainable and customizable to meet the needs of both our clients
and our clients’ clients.
Case Study:
A communications giant hired CPS to develop a phone line testing application which runs on a Pocket PC-based
Symbol device with a proprietary hardware attachment. We engineered the interface between the handheld
and the external hardware as well as creating a full application to interpret the data and transmit it
using a custom transport mechanism. In addition to engineering and fully testing the application within
budget and on time, we created an extensible source code base that allowed Harris to maintain the code for
months after shipping (customizing features as needed to meet their clients’ requirements and secure
major sales).
